St. Martin Parish School System (SMPSS) celebrated the official ribbon cutting Wednesday for its new $4 million facility that opened unofficially back in July.

The St. Martin Parish School Board hosted an open house as part of today's ceremonies for the new building, which houses offices for all school system supervisory and administrative staff, with the exception of the special education department. Those staff members have been working in the new 20,000 square-foot facility since July 28. Funding for the new building came from 2009 bonds.

Supt. Lottie Beebe said that the new facility will play a tremendous part in creating efficiency.
